A very effective line search method for constructing D-optimal exact designs is reported in the paper for polynomial response functions defined in an infinite space of trials. The direction of search is a weighted gradient vector where the weights are proportional to the variances of the response function measured over a spread of points in the space of trials. The search system is rapidly convergent and its application in block designs as well as in irregular geometric space are shown.
D-optimality, product of intervals, super convergent line series, double platform search system, variance function, block designs.
