In this paper, we investigate entrywise operators that preserve determinants of matrices over commutative rings. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for entrywise operators to be determinant preserving in the full matrix space, the upper triangular matrix space, the symmetric matrix space, and the anti-symmetric matrix space, respectively.
